Rare Kriegsmarine-U-9 dagger by Robert Klaas: naval dagger of the second model; the total length of the dagger is approximately 38 cm, and the length of the blade itself is approximately 25 cm; the gilt brass hilt fittings show moderate wear and age patina, and the eagle/swastika pommel and anchor bar are of excellent quality with crisp detail. The handle is cream-coloured, covered with celluloid on wood, and has damage: some cracks due to age. The blade is a Robert Klaas U-9 (unique to this maker) etched with the famous U-9 and the ricasso stamped with Robert Klaas. On the obverse of the blade, an anchor is depicted in the center, and a battleship below. The brass scabbard has a couple of minor dents. The U-9 dirk by Robert Klaas is quite rare, with fewer than 100 examples believed to have been produced. The actual purpose of this dagger is still a mystery, but many collectors believe that they were made for submarine officers. Wittmann Certificate.  Please check photos for condition.
